MEMOIR COMPLETE

This Blog needs some good news and I have some.

My memoir is complete.

I don’t want to give the title away just yet but I can tell you that writing about my life from birth to now urged all kinds of Campbell cells to scuttle out on their own and spread their stories.

I could not stop them.

Memoir Complete.

I can tell you that I am having fun, right now, right this second as I type, and I can add and also tell you that I feel good, eyes crinkled up from laughing, a new haircut and oh yeah, I completed my memoir.

Memoir Complete.

My old printer used to talk at the end of a printing job, after the last page was printed. It was a husky, don’t argue with me voice. It said,

“Printing Complete.”

“Memoir Complete,” I say to my old printer.

Do people laugh out loud anymore?

Do you?

I enjoy nothing more than hearing deep pelvic vibrations bursting up into the guts and lungs and throats of people around me, through vocal cords and over tongues, out the mouth and through the lips until the earth moves just a blip on its axis at the same time the laughter catches a jet stream and spreads around the globe like a missing star.

“Memoir complete.”

My Comment RE: Bode Miller’s Olympics Skiing Whine & Moan

Bode Miller

RE: Bode Miller: Mr. Miller, just because you are an Olympic phenom does not grant you the right to ruin all the skiing events you cover with your whining and moaning. You have endless opinions about the rules changes but you only make them when skiers are skiing. Hold a press conference, Mr. Miller, don’t opine and whine during a skier’s run about rules the average viewer, me, has no knowledge of. And, cheer up. This is a sport you love, apparently, but I do not hear any joy in your voice.

My Comment RE: Maureen Dowd’s February 17, 2018 Op Ed in the New York Times

Maureen Dowd

DHC Hillcrest, CA Pending Approval

Ms. Dowd - you cannot continue to be bipartisan in your OP EDS and expect that your arguments will hold water just because your brother is a Trump supporter. It does not mean that we have to suffer through your well-reasoned opinions only to run aground on a former shoal that sunk a ship that has already sailed and sunk. We are a country that slaughters children on a regular basis. End of Story. Anything before, above, under or beside that is beyond the point of reason. We are a country that is now controlled by Republicans on the national level and in a majority of the states. So call them to action and do not dare divert our attention, once again, which is what the NRA does, to that former sunken ship. We must act now even though now is not soon enough. I don’t have the all the answers but we need to have a national discussion about yes, the politics of slaughtering our children on a constant basis. Damn it!

Trump Troop Review?

Wednesday, February 7th, 2018

What, fucking review the troops, like a 2 bit dictator, in our soon-to-be 2 bit dictator country? This from the lying, women assaulting, racist, wig-wearing asshole who got 4 Vietnam draft deferments on account of Bone Fucking Spurs? Is there no shame? No limit?

No shame?

No limit, as he drags our country through the mud, into oblivion?

It’s not make America great again - no! It’s pull America down so far we won’t be able to recover, ever, again.

I am not making nice… All you assholes who voted this pretender into office - I have 7 words:

You
Are
Responsible
For
What
Happens
Next.

Mathilde Krim, amfAR, 1926-2018

RIP ~~~ Dr. Krim ~~~

My God, what a gruesome time the beginning of the AIDS epidemic was… Thank you, Dr. Krim, for all the work you did, all the awareness you brought to the AIDS epidemic through founding amfAR (The American Foundation for AIDS Research) in 1983. You deserve more credit, more coverage of your selfless commitment to finding a cure for AIDS. Here’s why:

I listened to a radio show on NPR yesterday called, The World, hosted by someone named Marco Werman, produced by PRI. He admitted to Kevin Frost, the CEO of amfAR, that he “knew nothing about her,” meaning Mathilde Krim, even though, as Mr. Werman admitted, he’s in his fifties.

And then for some reason, he mentioned Woody Allen!

Woody Allen?

How about Elizabeth Taylor, a co-founder of amfAR?

Dr. Krim founded amfAR in 1983, the year my first friend died of AIDS.

RIP Dr. Mathilde Krim

“noble Holiday”

another birthday is headed my way

January 1.

Having a gathering of my loved ones out for a celebration at Hillcrest Brewery. I imagine ordering a few Pearl Necklace brews and then later a pizza with a thin crusty crust, topped with goat feta cheese, basil, black olives, anchovies, artichoke hearts, garlic, spinach and drizzled olive oil.

I am grateful for the love of my man, the love of my life, the laughing man, the honest man, the sexy man, the one, oh - you know - we are coming up on 35 years together come November - “noble Holiday”

I am grateful for my southern foundation, cracked in places but filled with an astute aerie of loving people, family - forever - we share a history, a herstory to be exact, most of it herstory.

I’ve spent the past few months deciding what to do for my next… I gotta make a… shake things… dance.

My story. Stories. No 13th floor.

My years, all in a row.

What

a

time

I

am

having.

"Lest any doubt that we are glad that they were born Today

Whose having lived is held by us in noble Holiday

Without the date, like Consciousness or Immortality -"

Alabama

You reminded me tonight
of the south I grew up in -
big love and laughter -
agreeing to disagree
always
disagreeing to agree

Huge win
Huge relief
Huge dream

Big breath.

Thank you for your fortitude and first steps on the path to gay marriage for the rest of us.

I will always remember your words and that shock of beautiful blonde/white hair that cascaded over your left eye when you were all worked up, speaking your truth and love to power.

There will be days like this…

Mama Said

Dusty Springfield

Mama said there’ll be days like this
There’ll be days like this, my mama said
(Mama said, mama said)
Mama said there’ll be days like this
There’ll be days like this, my mama said
I went walkin’ the other day, yeah
Everything was goin’ fine
And then I met a little boy named Billy-Joe
And then I almost lost my mind, come on
My eyes were wide open
All that I could see, yeah
The chapel bells were tollin’
For everybody but me
But I don’t worry ’cause
[Chorus]
And then she said
Someone would look at me
Like I’m lookin’ at you
One day
Then I might find
I don’t want you any old way
So, don’t worry, ’cause
Mama said there’ll be days like this
There’ll be days like this, my mama said
(Mama said, mama said)
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Mama said there’ll be days like this
There’ll be days like this, my mama said
Oh, yeah
(Mama said, mama said)
Don’t worry, yeah, don’t worry, now, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Don’t worry, worry, now, now, now
Don’t you worry

45 Nation

When the President of what used to resemble my country equates the KKK and Nazis, one of whom questioned 45 about why he allowed “his beautiful daughter to marry a Jew,” with the people who protested against the KKK and Nazi hate and weaponry, then I must ask myself, where do we go from here?

Do you know?
