NYTimes Kavanaugh comment

By appearing on Fox News, Kavanaugh has just proven he is nothing more than a political hack. His desire to be on SCOTUS overrides his sense of justice and if confirmed, he will forever taint, to a higher degree than now, the politicization of SCOTUS. If he wanted to talk with the press, he should have held a news conference, not appear on a partisan network with his red cheeks blazing.

Sen. Feinstein should not have spoken about the truthfulness of Dr. Ford’s memory on Fox or anywhere else. Dr. Ford is under right wing attack, it appears, so if Feinstein was going to comment at all, it should have been about that. The pressure Dr. Ford is under is unimaginable to most of us. I have nothing but respect for her ability to decide when and how to speak out. She will live with these decisions for the rest of her life.

I am an Awards Show junkie and I had to quit watching the show at 5:30 PDT, 1/2 hour into it, in my living room, by myself, because I am disgusted and humiliated and embarrassed by the lame and continually unfunny diversity jokes. Goodbye Emmys.

Also, the dig at Jesus in the opening, I could hear televisions shutting off across America. I’m an atheist but come on, leave Jesus out of it.

What a day! We had Judge Kavanaugh in front of the Judiciary Committee sweating and swerving around questions like a Bumper Car Champ at the county fair. Then, during the Judiciary hearings, we had a White House official named Anonymous opine in The Times about how s/he along with other White House comrades are saving the country from “amoral” Trump but oh wait, except for the tax cuts Trump and the Republicans passed and the judicial nominees the “amoral” Trump is appointing to the Supreme, Appellate and lower courts… but s/he is avoiding a Constitutional crisis by not triggering the 25th Amendment to the Constitution which is, yes, you got it, an Amendment to the Constitution so how possibly can it create a Constitutional crisis?

Ask Anonymous, I guess.

Sweet Dreams, Dot Stanley

Jean called me tonight in California and told me you died two days ago in Richmond.

Just.
Like.
That.

Your sincerity and laughter was abundant in high school in Roanoke. I can picture you in my mind’s eye, your delicate smile and soothing eyes, your acceptance of anything and everyone about whatever was going on at the time. Never a harsh word.

We kissed on a date, once. We laughed. And danced, as I recall.

I never told you how much I appreciated you at the time, Dot. But you deserve to know. So now, better now than never, thank you.

And thank you, Jean.

We all did the best we could in the early 70s, with no idea what was coming at us, as we became adults and carved out our paths and desires and our sweet, sweet dreams.

Poverty in America

Tuesday, July 31st, 2018

While the politicians ignore the poor, and the media behave like a member of the ruling and upper classes, always going back to interview those Trump supporters, but just letting them talk, on and on, without asking them challenging questions, any questions for that matter - yes you, NPR, Here and Now, Midday Edition in San Diego, etc., etc., etc.

I guess poverty is too depressing. You trip over a homeless person as you walk out of your 1 million dollar condo with 1200 sq. feet, then a block down, scoot by people lying on sidewalks, then in another block hop over the piss coming from (is she a dead woman) so you don’t muss your new shoes - while the rich get welfare and the farmers get bailed out for Trumps tariffs and the poor get dead.

Welcome to MAGA.

Monster, Idiot, Prez*

*hat tip to Charles P. Pierce, Esquire

1. Are you Prez* voters happy yet? Your mealy-mouthed-man in the White House is destroying relationships with our allies while licking the armpits of the strong men dictators of the world. I hate you all, I will go to my grave, decades from now, hating your fucking stupid guts for bringing this man to power, when the evidence of his behavior was there for anyone to read, (oh, I forgot), insulting my country and destroying the lives of the next generations.

2. His rallies aren’t news, they’re reruns of a starved ego who feeds on the applause of his lies.

3. How does it feel to be a Prez* Christian, you Prez* Christians? You white puppets? What does it feel like to love your pussy-grabbing, children-hating, weak and fey fat obnoxious man Prez*?

4. Your Prez* is a P I G Hog, snorting his fucking way into all of our lives, disregarding the humanity, the civility, of this country. AMERICA!

5. I will be one of millions who plan to hold you Prez* supporters and voters accountable, along with your Prez* when and if this this ever ends and when and if we have a country left to rebuild. If we don’t have a country left to rebuild, to rejuvenate, then that is on you and your ancestors, Prez* voters.

2018: Back to present time. Above, I transcribed, word for word, the advertisement that I wrote when Luke and I decided to sell our home on the banks of Shingle Mill Creek on Vashon Island and move to San Diego. I received a full price offer the first day it was on the market and just like that, snap, we had U-Hauled ourselves to a condo in San Diego, 10 minutes from the beach.

But that is just the first part of the story. In May of 2018, Luke and I returned to Vashon Island to visit our friends Peter Criss and Brian Fisher, the famous artist, and while on the Island, Luke and I decided to go visit our first home on Shingle Mill Creek.

We were anxious as we started our drive down to the house on the steep, curvy dirt road, the house and canyon I wrote about in my novel, Dancing on the Cellar Door, after I moved to San Diego.

My skin vibrates when I think about what we discovered last month at the end of the road that led to our house in the canyon - my skin buzzes when I reread the ending of Dancing on the Cellar Door - my skin full on dances when I connect the reality of what happened to the house in the canyon and what I imagined in the novel, the premonition and the magic were always there but the reality was not, until last month.

There will be a Part 2 of this Blog entry, I cannot get it all out at once.

Stay tuned.
