I’ve been living in Japan for over a decade. Before Abe’s current run, there were six consecutive prime ministers who resigned after around 1 year in office, whether due to scandal or perceived mismanagement of a crisis. Hatoyama resigned for failing to follow through on a campaign promise. Aso resigned due to poor handling of the 2008 financial crisis. Fukuda resigned to reduce partisan roadblocks in the lawmaking process. Can you imagine Trump resigning to reduce the number of partisan roadblocks? Or even just admitting that the pandemic is winning? No. He lacks the humility.
Other countries have no problem expecting, and receiving, integrity from their political leaders. Why is this so hard for the USA?
@Travis Because we are an uneducated, trigger happy tweeting bunch of self-interested drama queens who would rather destroy our country than take a breath and realize that our fellow citizens matter and we are all in this together but those days are over because just like the housing crisis in the aughts, small businesses will now be taken over by the big online behemoths just like the rental housing market was taken over by hedge funds so that the 1% will continue to control the earth’s wealth until we have a revolution or all die while the 1% moves to outer space X and leaves the last of us gasping humans on earth to dance the dance of death while we aim our tweets and guns at each other like desperate fleas without a dog.
Aren’t you happy you asked?
David.
